A quoting portal that let Tool World's retail customers generate their own accurate quotes, freeing the owner from writing quotes all day and embedding Tool World in their customers' workflow.
The challenge
Roberto from Tool World came to Redgum because he spent all day writing quotes instead of working on the business. Only the two owners could write one: quoting a wholesale ring safely means real mathematics compounded by metal prices that move daily, so a single quote took a long time — and every customer wanted several, to compare and contrast options. The company's growth was capped by two people's afternoons.
What we built
Redgum designed, implemented and fine tuned a quoting system that let any person with less than an hour's training quote and place orders safely. We turned it into a portal Tool World's retail customers could use themselves, with the orders flowing straight through to operations.
The outcome
A quote that used to take the better part of an hour of an owner's attention now takes under two minutes — and doesn't need the owners at all. The portal embedded Tool World directly into their customers' workflow, making them the fastest and easiest wholesaler to deal with: every salesperson in every retail jewellery store could run through options on the spot, quote accurately, and order directly. Quote volume rose sharply while staff effort fell, and the quoting data gave the owners something they'd never had — a clear picture of their highest-value customers. A quote used to be a bottleneck; now it is a reason to choose Tool World.
