Case Study: Votar RCAT Systems

The challenge

Most organisations, government departments and NGOs are largely unaware of the regulatory and legal risks they carry in the software systems they use every day. Too often the first time they learn they are contravening a law is when they appear on the front page of a newspaper or receive a court summons. The knowledge needed to see the risk sits with specialists, and it changes constantly as legislation moves.

What we built

We worked with Votar's domain experts to build a platform that brings complex legislation from multiple regulators into one toolkit. It lets a client assess compliance across any business system, from finance and HR and payroll to CRM and health records. The head of each department answers a simple set of yes or no questions, and the platform turns those answers into a clear, actionable report that shows governance leads exactly where to focus their risk-mitigation effort.

The outcome

The platform gave Votar a real point of difference in their consulting engagements, making assessments faster and more efficient while always referencing the most up-to-date legislation for the sector and jurisdiction a client operates in. For the organisations being assessed, a traffic-light view makes compliance issues easy to understand and act on across the whole business, and gives them a consistent way to audit and compare their improvement, department by department, as the legal and regulatory landscape shifts over time.
