Case Study: Lilydale Ebook Sales Platform

Short form

One place for students to reach every ebook they own, no matter which of eight publishers sold it.

The challenge

Lilydale resells ebooks from eight major publishers, and each publisher runs its own security and provisioning system. Left as they were, students had to remember who they bought each book from and log in to that publisher's site to read it. The friction sat with the customer, and it grew with every title added.

What we built

We integrated Lilydale's security system with the very different security systems of all eight publishers, then connected through to each publisher's ebook sales and provisioning system. The result is a single Lilydale environment where a student's whole library sits behind one login, regardless of where each book came from.

The outcome

Students reach all their ebooks from one Lilydale page instead of juggling eight publisher accounts. Lilydale can resell across publishers as one coherent product, and the experience holds together as the catalogue grows. It gave the business a capability generic e-commerce does not: publisher complexity handled once, on the customer's behalf.
